Bank Fees

There's been a lot of rhetoric over the past few weeks about banning bank fees in Canada. This is a ridiculous idea. How could someone claiming to be thrifty say this?

Why? Because we have a choice of whether or not to be gouged. We should have a choice. Otherwise, we're sheepishly saving and not actively saving.

There are several small lifestyle changes that we can make that can help avoid bank fees, namely:

  • Setting up a regular visit to our main bank to keep a reserve of cash on hand

  • Using cash-back in place of ATMs
  • Keeping track of our bank statements
