Affordable Carry-on

I spoke briefly before about ways to save on carry-on expenses. Here are a few more:

  • Buy small plastic containers from a dollar store (less than 3 oz or 100 mL)
  • Bring an empty water bottle and individual packages of drink mixes (e.g. Crystal Lite, Kool Aid, etc.) help you save on high prices of beverages
  • Bring some tea bags and even coffee bags (they look like tea bags but make coffee)
  • Pick up some extra samples of toothpaste, floss, and toothbrushes the next time you're at the dentist
  • Make travel packs - put all your regular travel items in a big zippable plastic bag long before the day you leave. If you travel often and unpredictably, make many travel packs
