Authentic Souvenirs

We always want to get authentic experiences when we travel. As well, we like bringing home and giving away authentic souvenirs. This means getting things that have a story to them and tie back to country of their origin. “Mass produced in China and sold at a ludicrously large margin” usually isn’t a good story.

“We met the person who made this” or “we visited the factory where these were produced” or “we found this washed up on the shore” or “the tribal chief gave this to us as part of a sacrifice” are much more interesting stories.

Look around you. If you see tourists with you when you’re purchasing that souvenir, put it back on the shelf and get away from there.
