It's always worth asking

People aren't mind readers. If you don't ask, you won't get. Some times, the more absurd the thing you ask for, the more likely it is you'll get it.

An example...

Movie theaters make their money off concessions. You can always find the best value any where. Here, it was a coffee. But it gets better. The cash register was closed at the coffee stand and the server was flustered that it wasn't open. So, we asked, "Can you give us our coffees for free?" Yes, the server agreed to give us the coffees for free - because we asked. It was less trouble.

This isn't an everyday occurrence, but it could be if we were to ask consistently for things that people would assume are crazy. Today's employers are so detached from the corporation that they are much more likely relent from the customer unless they're constantly whipped into obedience. "Free if there's an inconvenience" is a great customer policy. In lieu, reasonable employees will make up this policy.

If you don't ask, though, it won't be enforced.
