Dirty Dishes & Wealth

Two rules apply to dirty dishes:

  1. The more dishes pile up, the harder it feels to clean them
  2. The longer dirty dishes remain in a sink, the less likely you're going to clean them today

The same rules apply to accruing wealth. There are certain savings activities that we need to do - setting up a savings plan, installing those CFLs, getting rid of those bricks that are weighing down the SUV - that we put off because they're a hassle. The longer we put them off, the harder it'll be to do them and the less likely we'll do them. (Remember positive feedback cycles - this is a bad one)

Fortunately, finally doing one of these activaties has a cascade effect (maybe that's why they call the dish soap that name). Once you've done one, it because a lot easier to do others.

So, let's roll up those sleeves and get scrubbin'!
