The One-Hour Challenge

You ever notice that when your schedule is packed (with non-shopping tasks) that you spend less? A lot less sometimes. The past spring, I was working two jobs and commuting between Toronto and Ottawa weekly. It was incredibly exhausting and rewarding and I just didn't have the time or inclination to make the usual purchases. I didn't starve or feel that I needed to purchase more. The moments that I had to shop were reserved for getting only the things I really needed.

Many posts ago, I talked about the one-dollar challenge to getting the most value for your dollars. We can do the same for time. You already have a limited time to make your weekly purchases. Let's say this time was further limited to one hour per week.

What things would stay on your shopping list? What things would drop off?

If we can postpone buying something without it later becoming an urgent purchase, we should avoid buying it.
