Vinegar's Arch Nemesis: Baking Soda

Arm & Hammer did a great job marketing a commodity as something more than just that. Baking Soda is produced by many companies and, like vinegar, there is little difference among brands. Do you have a brand loyalty toward a particular type of table salt? You can get a 1 lb box of it for 67¢ at Walmart.

Despite what companies advertise, a box of baking soda will not freshen your fridge. However, there still are some great uses for baking soda and a solution of it can be used as effectively as a vinegar solution.

Harry Godwin puts together a list of 60 Uses of Baking Soda. It's worth a gander. The lesson is that we don't need to spend lots on expensive household cleaners.
